Colorado 2011

First a look back...

Thursday morning we hiked up to St. Mary's Glacier. It was a tough climb, but it was short. The scene at the top was well worth the climb. 

 

We intended to drive down toward Colorado Springs to see the Royal Gorge but we ran short on time. We stopped by Garden of the Gods instead. The park was crowded but we had fun.

 

On our last day in Colorado we drove up Pike's Peak. It was cloudy and rainy most of our vacation. 

The view from the top was surreal. The clouds were an eerie reminder of how high up we were. I was the only one who would go near the edge. The kids were happy to stay toward the middle and play in the snow. 

Jason was not a fan of this road. It was very narrow and on the other side of that white line is a sheer cliff. We were both sweating on the way up. 

We attempted a drive up Mt. Evans, but it was raining that day and the road treacherous. We found a beautiful waterfall to explore on our way down. 

We ended our vacation in Kansas City to celebrate Grandma Norma's birthday. The kids had fun with their cousins. I love this photo of Bella and Lydia.
