Scary reading

I was browsing through the health care reform bill this morning and came upon an interesting entry in section 222. Premiums and Financing.

(A) IN GENERAL- In order to provide for the establishment of the public health insurance option there is hereby appropriated to the Secretary, out of any funds in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $2,000,000,000. In order to provide for initial claims reserves before the collection of premiums, there is hereby appropriated to the Secretary, out of any funds in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as necessary to cover 90 days worth of claims reserves based on projected enrollment.

$2 billion not otherwise appropriated by the Treasury. Our budget is trillions of dollars in the red. How could we possibly have money just sitting around!?! Has no one in congress ever balanced a checkbook!

you'd be surprised how many of us don't keep a register. a-hem.

actually i once helped a guy balance his checkbook when i worked at the CU. guess why he was bouncing checks? he was ROUNDING *LOL hahaha* UP OR DOWN by the nearest hundredth!

guess that wacky theory could work as long as you always round up and just let the excess build up...but still!!!
